World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA)

The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) is an ‘association of associations’.

Its membership is made up of veterinary organisations from all over the world, which are concerned with small companion animals such as cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs etc.

Currently there are 76 member and affiliate associations, representing over 70,000 individual veterinarians from around the globe.

Bei Hunden und Katzen ist Übergewicht die häufigste ernährungsbedingte Erkrankung. Bis zu 40% aller Hunde und Katzen sind zu dick. Auf dem diesjährigen WSAVA-Kongress war daher die optimale Körperkondition bei Hunden und Katzen Hauptthema der Iams Company, eines der Hauptsponsoren des Weltkongresses. Die durch The Iams Company auf dem Weltkongress vermittelte Botschaft lautete, dass eine erfolgreiche Gewichtskontrolle eine wichtige Maßnahme zur Prävention von Erkrankungen bei Hunden und Katzen darstellt
